The Water

We are working on plans for a rain garden!  An adjoining pond with artificial features will be included.  Using plants and hardscape to tie the area together will create a unique showcase.

Until then we have several elements to provide water for wildlife while adding points of interest to the beds:

The Donut.  It's actually just a circular feature.  This small basin is at the front corner of the house.  It is popular with birds who seem to enjoy the branch we keep in it for a perch.  This water benefits the nearby Toad Abodes as well.  Monitoring the water level suggest larger animals may also benefit.  A small solar pump keeps the water moving.

The Turtle Pond.  Just a resin turtle.  A larger, irregular shaped water element located in the back of the house.  Definitely a favorite of the deer.  A racoon or possum has some opinions about the turtle.  A solar pump feeds the turtle that sends a stream of water back into the pond.  This keeps the water fresh and provides a pleasant sound.

The Peanut.  This is actually the shape of the liner.  We placed this in a front wildflower bed.  We laid wooden floats for insects.  A small solar pump keeps the water moving.

The Barrel.  A plastic barrel half.  This above ground water source is near the bench in the Wildflower Meadow.  We laid wooden floats for insects.  A small solar pump keeps the water moving.
