The Bees

     Okay, okay... so honeybees are invasive.  Let's acknowledge that up front.  Honeybees are managed livestock.  

     

     We keep a number of hives on the property.  We wanted to keep a hive for years and had our first on the front porch of our previous home!  Now we maintain hives for continued enjoyment.  Honey is pulled to be shared with friends and family while excess is sold to Let's Grow Akron for resale to support their program.  Wax is harvested in moderation and someday we'd like to catch pollen and perhaps propolis.  Oh, and there is the Mead.

     Anyone interested in keeping bees should attend classes and become a member of the Summit County Beekeepers Association.

     Our "Hive Alpha" was stocked with a package from a local provider Gauhan Bee Dancin.  Our "Hive Beta" was started with a nuc from another local provider 4KBeez.
